Some classics like the Condor Trilogy probably get remade once every few years or so, so it’s no surprise if you see them on this list. This year, however, the list of remake is so much longer than normal! New faces playing old roles…that’s always a hit or miss but lots of anticipations and hypes for some of these dramas.

Chinese New Year’s Day is one of the biggest days of the year for movies, if not the biggest in China. Most of the big budget movies filmed by huge directors are released during this period and some of them end up being the #1 movies of the year when it comes to box office gross.
Some of the movies coming out on CNY 2018 have already been announced! This list will be updated as more releases get announced. The most anticipated films on this list are probably Detective Dee The Four Heavenly Kings, Monkey King 3, and Monster Hunt and they are probably the highest contenders for coming out #1 in box office gross.

Below is this year’s list of Douban’s highest rated Chinese films and topping the list is Angels Wear White with a score of 8.4 out of almost 70 thousand rates. I don’t think I’ve seen any except for my short attempt at Brotherhood of Blades 2 but the genre didn’t keep me interested. I’ve been looking for a few good Chinese movies to watch so if anyone have a good one to recommend, I’m all ears.

Every year Sina selects 10 outstanding actors and actresses to participate in their annual “Best Performances” films. This year the 10 selected actors and actresses are Huang Xuan, Zhao Liying, Zhang Yishan, Ni Ni, Lei Jiayin, Ma Li, Wu Xiubo, Pan Yueming, Zhang Zhijian, Ma Yili. These actors and actresses participated in the making of 10 short creative films (with the help of 4 promising directors) at one minute each. The film was released on December 18th.
