Synopsis:

In The Monkey King 3, Buddhist monk Tang Sanzang (William Feng Shaofeng) and his disciples – Wukong the Monkey King (Aaron Kwok Fu-shing), pig demon Bajie (Xiao Shenyang) and the blue-skinned sand demon Wujing (Him Lo Chung-him) – inadvertently enter the Womanland of Western Liang, a nation populated by women raised to believe that men are fatally deceptive in matters of the heart.

Love nevertheless blossoms between Tang Sanzang and the Womanland’s young queen (Zhao Liying), even though her royal preceptor (Gigi Leung Wing-kei) is hell-bent on sentencing the men to death. As Wukong and Co. search for a way out of this nation surrounded by a vast magical net, it soon transpires, conveniently, that romantic love is the only key to opening the gate. So will Tang Sanzang give up on his sacred mission and stay with the queen?

Movies Released on Chinese New Year 2018

Chinese New Year’s Day is one of the biggest days of the year for movies, if not the biggest in China. Most of the big budget movies filmed by huge directors are released during this period and some of them end up being the #1 movies of the year when it comes to box office gross.

Some of the movies coming out on CNY 2018 have already been announced! This list will be updated as more releases get announced. The most anticipated films on this list are probably Detective Dee The Four Heavenly Kings, Monkey King 3, and Monster Hunt and they are probably the highest contenders for coming out #1 in box office gross.

2017 Douban Highest Rated Chinese Movies

Below is this year’s list of Douban’s highest rated Chinese films and topping the list is Angels Wear White with a score of 8.4 out of almost 70 thousand rates. I don’t think I’ve seen any except for my short attempt at Brotherhood of Blades 2 but the genre didn’t keep me interested. I’ve been looking for a few good Chinese movies to watch so if anyone have a good one to recommend, I’m all ears.

[Review] Eternal Wave (2017 Film)

Synopsis: The story takes in In 1937, after the fall of Shanghai during the Japanese invasion. Spy Lin Xiang (Aaron Kwok) was ordered to infiltrate Shanghai and reconstruct the underground headquarter that was destroyed. Here he was assigned a simple but with a very strong sense of justice girl, Lan Fang (Zhao Liying), to play his wife. Known as the “underground party couples”, the two fight hand in hand to gather information and fight against the Japanese invaders, notably the Japanese official (Zhang Lanxin).

[Thread] The Eternal Wave 密战 (2017 Film)

It’s been awhile but we finally got news on the spy movie Eternal Wave starring Aaron Kwok, Zhao Liying, and Zhang Han. The promotion for it ramped up and they dropped the first official trailer along with a release date!!

Entertainment Update: Dramas, movies, music, and fashion

Hey everyone! I’m back since I only have one exam and it’s 2 weeks away. This will be my first entertainment update in awhile.

FIRST THINGS FIRST, dramas

  • The Brightest Star in the Night Sky is an upcoming musical drama starring Huang Zitao (Chinese Odyssey, The Negotiator). His female lead is rumoured to be Janice Wu (My Amazing Boyfriend). It is the first Chinese musical drama, which will feature Tao’s songs. Filming begins June 2017 (after Tao’s Promise Tour) and will take place in Los Angeles and Beijing. This drama is the story of a young girl (Janice Wu) who joins an entertainment agency to pursue her dreams. It’s there where she meets and falls in love with the CEO (Tao). To be broadcast on Hunan TV as it’s one of their productions. Last year, Princess Agents was their summer production. This year, this drama is.
