Besides Liu Shi Shi and William Chan, I also found another familiar face behind the scene. The director of this drama is also the same lady that directed Three Lives Three Worlds!

Yuan Zhan launches a coup on the day of the wedding ceremony, and Qingchen uses her powers to reset the universe in an effort to prevent further bloodshed. 1. Is there anything worth watching now that 3 Lives 3 Worlds is over? Most of what I’m anticipating aren’t airing until after May.

    1. I’m in the same boat! 😦 None of the dramas airing in march seems interesting….
Anyone wanna suggest something? Hahah. Is it usually like this around feb-apr where there’s no good cdrama to watch?

  2. I was not really excited about this drama bc the plot seems so predictable and done before BUT the director. After 3l3w, I am sold on this director so I am looking forward to her adaptation.

  3. As amazing as Eternal Love was and 58 episodes was bearable I don’t think I can do another drama of this length. This recent lengthy drama trend in China has GOT to go.

As for the series I’m feeling lukewarm. Shishi hasn’t been picking great works exactly and super meh towards William Chan. And the premise doesn’t pull me in. To be fair, the biggest reason to watch is Hong Kong director Lam Yuk fong – seeing as she was behind better Cdramas hits recently. I like her works.

    1. Surprisingly 58 eps of 3l3w was ok for me. But I do agree that these long dramas need to be cut short! Cause most of them just feel draggy.
+100000 for the director. Just found out that she was behind the production of some my favorite dramas! (BuBu Jixing, JoF, Love020) And she’s funny bts. lol.

      1. The director is amazing. She deserves all the recognition of making the best out of her cast, and for genuinely caring about what she does and those she works with!! I don’t think she directed Scarlet Heart, but she was behind the others you mentioned, and of course our beloved Eternal Love ❤

        1. I turned to douban as my source, and Scarlet Heart wasn’t listed under her works. And I recall director “Lee Kwok Lap” as the name credited for Scarlet Heart, perhaps she is a co-director? But yes, she’s probably my favorite director at the moment ❤

For one, I like how she respects the original novel adaptations and follows it faithfully as well as keeping any changes to a minimal so that it don't affect the plot. She has done the novels every justice in her works, so readers can almost be rest assured it's in good hands under her direction.

I wonder if this is another novel adaptation? That seems to be 90% of C-dramas these days. Novel adaptations, many episodes, OTT cinematography – lather rinse and repeat.

Though I was singing a different tune earlier, I probably will end up checking this out for director Lam.

          1. Oh you’re totally right! She didn’t direct scarlet heart. She co-directed the 2nd season of it. (lol. I just read bubu jin..and jumped to the conclusion that it was xin.)
Yup it’s gonna be another novel adaption. Seeing how she well she did 3l3w, readers of this novel should be happy that she’s directing it.
So many dramas in July!!! this will probably be 2nd or 3rd on my list of dramas to watch in the summer. hahaha

      2. The only draw for me in this drama too is the director.
As you said she has also directed some of my best cdramas so i am looking forward to this.
And i also didnt mind the 58 eps 3l3w

    2. God damn, does this woman sleep? She’s directed so many dramas I’m assuming she works 24/7. Also I hate it when they air only 2 days a week when there are so many episodes.

      1. Apparently not. She jumped from 3l3w to lost love in time almost right away! I’m not complaining tho. hahaha We get to see more of her work! =D

  4. That synopsis basically just give away everything away about the plot. They started in October and are still filming? Really long shoot.

Excited to see Shi Shi in a powerful role. Hope her character kicks arse.

I really dislike all the headpieces. I know they are trying for unique looks but they are so ugly.

    1. Lol. Maybe I should shorten the synopsis. Yup they’re still filming. I’d have to assume that they should be wrapping up soon if they are releasing it in July.
