[Recap] Story of Minglan Episode 27-30

Episode 27

Minglan was granted permission to leave the house. She meets up with her aunt, the maid that served her mother back then, and the doctor that treated her mother. The doctor remembers instructing the servants that the baby is big. To ensure safe delivery, the pregnant would have to eat less and exercise more. Minglan, however, remembers the servants telling her mom just the opposite. Doing just that will cause an unsuccessful delivery.

Minglan now know that it was the Lins that purposely did all that to harm her mother. She pretends that her mother’s ghost instructs her to do some sacrifical ritual in front of her dad, gauging his reaction. He yells at her for being ridiculous. Minglan knows that she has to take matters in her own hand if she wants justice for her mom.

Along with many other noble families, the Sheng family is also invited to the Gu family’s party. Qi Hen’s mom outrightly insulted Minglan for her lowly status the while Liang’s madam admires Minglan for her outgoing personality (seen at the sporting event). Minglan and Qi Hen secretly meet up at the Gu family’s party. She reassures him again that as long as he fights for their relationship she will fight alongside him.

Gu Tingye returns to his family’s home to retrieve his spear. He overhears Minglan’s concern and warns her that Qi Hen is the only son of the Qi family. He might put family above all else.

Episode 28

Qi Hen’s mother got wind of Buwei helping Qi Hen and Minglan meet. As punishment, she orders people to hit him until he died. Qi Hen fainted due to shock. He threatens to leave once he woke up but news came that his father is being held hostage at prince Yong’s manor.

His mother explains that the daughter of Yong saw Qi Hen at the sports festival and fell in love. At the same time, consort Rong also has her eyes on Qi Hen and wants her sister to marry him. The Yong is a powerful family and his daughter is most doted on. The kidnapping of Rong’s sister was most likely done by the Yong’s family in order to force them to back off.

The Qi family, though noble in name, doesn’t have much power. They most likely kidnapped Qi Hen’s dad to force Qi Hen to marry their precious daughter.

Qi Hen’s mother went into the palace to seek help from her mother but to no avail. Qi Hen goes to the Yong’s manor demanding for his father’s release with a knife on his throat. The madam of the Yong threatens him with his family’s as well as Minglan’s safety. Without much of a choice, Qi Hen accepted their marriage proposal.

The news reaches Minglan as well as Gu Tingye very quickly. Gu Tingye confronted Qi Hen. He offers to help Qi Hen as long as Qi Hen is willing to risk everything for Minglan. Qi Hen chickens out and asks GTY to return the clay doll to Minglan.

GTY meets with Minglan with her second brother’s help and relays the message to Minglan. Understanding that Qi Hen is backing out, the disappointed Minglan retrieves the other half of the clay doll and gives it to GTY. (Signifying the end of her’s and Qi Hen’s relationship.) He tells her that he will be leaving for battle soon and she wishes him safety.

Episode 29

With the closing of her’s and Qi Hen’s relationship, other potential marriage partners pop up. One is the doctor son, who is nice and kind, her grandmother’s first choice and the other is the 6th son of the Liang, who his mom already settled on Minglan as her daughter-in-law.

Liang madam boldly makes her move by inviting Minglan to her sports party. Minglan kindly declines but she insists. To not make it obvious, she invited the 3 Sheng sisters. During the party, Molan sneaks off to trespass over the men’s side of the resting area. Minglan knows her plan and attempts to stop her. She was successful in doing so but earn resentment from Molan.

The interests now focus on the 6th son to the Liang, who his mom tries to convince him to marry Minglan. However, his interest is on Molan. Molan is also interested in him (or more like his family’s wealth). Sheng madam also wants her daughter to marry him, but she rather not. She thinks his family is too complicated.

Episode 30

Liang keeps inviting the Sheng sisters to her party but now that the 5th sister is not interested, Sheng madam declines all invitations. After a while, the invitation is only sent to Minglan. To piss off Molan, Minglan purposely attends those parties and rubs it in her face. To top it off, Liang madam keeps sending expensive stuff to Minglan that makes Molan pissed with jealousy.

Minglan regifts those gifts to Rulan and Molan. Rulan is happy with the gifts but Molan is angry with jealousy. The pissed off Molan confronted Minglan but Minglan puts on her innocent face which pisses Molan off even more. They start to fight and Molan accidentally injured Minglan’s face.

This causes a scene in the family. Minglan reveals that Molan almost shamed the Sheng’s family when she wanted to trespass over to the men’s side. The grandma is angry to let the dad deal with Molan. The dad punished Molan (albeit lightly only). During the conversation between Minglan and grandmother, it was revealed that the Liang wants Minglan not only because of her personality but because they want to cover up the fact that the 6th son got someone pregnant and that someone is in a complicated relationship with the Liang.

Chexmix: It’s so weird that we’re already halfway into the drama and our main leads have yet to have much interaction. If I didn’t already know who she would end up with, I would probably still be guessing at this point. hahah. Little interactions but precious interactions. =D As for Qi Hen, I feel bad for his situation but I don’t really feel bad for him. Cause in the end, he made his choice and it was to his duty as the son of Qi and the story continues.
