Entertainment Update: Yang Mi, The Devotion of Suspect X, Drama Updates, This is Not I Expected Trailer

After the success of the drama Three Lives Three Worlds, it is said that the value of Yang Mi’s company, Jay Walker, increased to 5 billion Yuan. (Given that the company was the main investor of the drama and a majority of the casts is from her company, it’s to be expected). This also put Yang Mi and the people in her company under the spotlight. Yang Mi signed  Vengo Gao, Dilireba, Zhang Binbin, Zhang Yunlong, Yang Chengcheng, Li Xi Rui, and Huang Mengying back in 2014 and is now being praised for successfully promoting the her people into stardom.

In addition, Yang Mi also joined variety show The Coming of One as one of the main judges. It is a show that help discovers new talents and train them to be the new faces of idols.

Ali from Three Lives Three Worlds said on an interview that he was afraid of Yang Mi because she was strict with him on the set. Behind the scene, the two did not talk much. Later his parents came out and clarify that, before the shooting, Yang Mi and they agreed that she will keep her distance from Ali in order to not interfere with his emotions and acting. Someone also pointed out that in other shootings, Yang Mi is actually fond of little Ali and joke with him a lot.

Now that Three Lives Three Worlds ended, everyone has turned their attention to Yang Mi’s new drama Legend of  Fuyao and been speculating who she will be paired up with. Actor Jerry Yan from Meteor Garden and Zhang Ruo Yun from Sparrow are strong contenders.

If you’re not getting a Yang Mi overload yet, here’s another one. On March 12th, Yang Mi’s weibo posted an rated post that shocked her fans. Not long after, the post got pulled and her company responded that her account got hack and that it’s not her.

Alec Su and Ruby Lin reunited in the new film, The Devotion of Suspect X, as director and actress. The two appeared at a press conference recently and Ruby Lin joked that she almost lost a friend because Alec Su was too strict as a director.

The story is based on the 2005 novel by Keigo Higashino, the third in his Detective Galileo series and is his most acclaimed work thus far. The film follows Yasuko Hanaoka (Ruby Lin), a divorced single mother who accidentally killed her abusive ex-husband and Ishigami (Zhang Lu Yi) , a highly talented mathematics teacher, who helped dispose of the body and plotted the cover-up of the murder step-by-step. When the body turns up and is identified, the detective investigating the murder case, brought in Dr. Manabu Yukawa (Wang Kai), a genius physicist, to help break the case. The film is set to be released March  31st. 

Ruby Lin wished Vicki Zhao happy birthday. Fans called her out on using the same photo as last year and teased her for being too lazy to find a new picture. (Lol. These fans are sharp! =D)

 

Xie Na, one of the hosts from Happy Camp, will be leaving to study abroad in Italy! It is said  that she got awarded a scholarship to attend a fashion design school in Italy. Congratz!

The Starry Night The Starry Sea is returning with a season 2. The trailer was released with the addition of Bosco Wong in the cast as an evil merman!? (seems to be a trend to split dramas into season 1 and 2 nowadays…)

As Flowers Fade and Fly Across the Sky: starring Peter Ho, Zhang Vian, Zhu Yi Long. The drama is about how a bandit’s son acquires an injury as a child and loses his memory. He then gets adopted by by another pair of kind parents. Years later, he takes it upon himself to search for their missing daughter who was kidnapped by his very own biological father. After rescuing her, he regains his memory and reunites with his real father. They then work together to clear his father’s reputation against a big bad boss (credit)

They’re a little late but Rush to the Dead Summer starring Zheng Shuang and Cheney Chen Xue Dong just released a short trailer with whole cast wishing you a happy Valentine’s day.

Tribes and Empires: Storm of Prophecy has not been released yet and Novoland is already planning the adaption of the prequel? sequel? to the novel written by the same author, Jin He Zai. Wings of Wind will be an adaption of the novel 九州·羽传说.

Angelababy and Wallace Chung Huang Xuan (Oops. Sorry for all those General and I fans. Got your hopes up for a sec….)will star in their new drama: Entrepreneurial Age. Expected to start filming in May, the story is about struggle to enter the mobile phone industry as a start up company. This will be Angelababy’s first project after returning from her pregnancy.

New drama Love the Whole World announced Luo Jin and Zheng Shuang as the main male and female lead. The drama will be based off of the novel 为了你，我愿意热爱整个世界.

Deng Chao hinted on Weibo that he will be working will director Zhang Yi Mou on a new film about the Three Kingdom.
