The Negotiator is the unrelated sequel to Dear Translator. Filming in China wrapped yesterday, 02/12/17. However, filming is still taking place in the U.S. specifically New York City.

SYNOPSIS: The Negotiator tells of the love story between senior negotiator, Tong Wei (played by Yang Mi), and a wealthy Chinese-American heir, Xie Xiaofei (played by Huang Zitao). Tong Wei is a young negotiator with a bold, meticulous style of negotiation. Through a commercial project, she is introduced to Xie Xiaofei. The Xie family is a secretive and wealthy Chinese-American family, and Xie Xiaofei is the only heir. He grew up in the U.S. and is arrogant. Hence, he does not have the support of his father and family. Thus, he frequently negotiates against Tong Wei. With the deepening exchanges, the two gradually grow to appreciate each other at the final negotiation. At this time, his father suffers a betrayal, and Xie Xiaofei begins to experience the harsh realities of life. Tong Wei comes forward. With their negotiating expertise, the Xie family wins an important project. Eventually, the Xie family recover their shares. At this point, Tong Wei discovers that her parents’ death was related to the Xie family. Hence, she and Xie Xiaofei part ways. After years of separation, they meet at the negotiating table. Tong Wei and Xie Xiaofei are determined to be together this time. At the same time, Xie Xiaofei believes in the prosperity of China and shifts the focus of his family business back to China from America.
